Binocular is an exploration of the themes of insider/outsider undertaken with artist Penny Hallas. Taking the Skirrid, a holy mountain in the eastern area of the Black Mountains, Wales as a site of investigation, the project has considered the dialogue between place and position and during the process of sharing and exchanging views, has welcomed other voices, such as Dr Adrian Healy from Cardiff University. His intimate knowledge of the area along with his international work on economic resilience and innovation informed the artistic exchanges, placing them within broader frameworks and concerns.

A three phase public presentation of the work produced by both artists was shown at Oriel Davies Gallery in 2016

Binocular is funded by an Arts Council Wales small production grant. Images show work in Oriel Davies by Caroline Wright. A blog about the project and images of Penny Hallas' work, can be viewed here
