On Tides and Fathoms
Locations can eat away at you, they can nag and pester, annoy and itch until it becomes essential to explore them further. On Tides and Fathoms is a film triptych exploring stories held by three rural buildings, a beach hut, a shepherd’s hut and a lookout tower.
Through capturing them on film, rich memories and stories were uncovered; discovered fact was intermingled with conjecture and fiction like a palimpsest.
The stories of those Suffolk outposts and the peoples they touch were woven into an unfolding, journeying Constructivist narrative, knitting together imagination with factual history, and offering visual clues with an atmospheric sound score by Phillip Warren and Seamus Wright.
